On 25 October 2008, Socialization of Independent Category Schools has been held in State Senior High Schools (PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL) 110 North Jakarta. Event which took place in the SMAN building 110 Jakarta is an introduction, as well as preparation for SMAN 110 towards an Independent Category School. Independent category schools are a categorization carried out by the government regarding the implementation of eight national standards including the implementation of the Semester Credit Unit system (SKS).

This categorization is an effort to map the quality of education to the quality of implementation of national education standards in order to improve the quality of education. The government through PP Number 19 year 2005 concerning National Education Standards has stipulated that educational units are obliged to adapt to the provisions of the Government Regulation no later than the latest 7 (seven) years since the issuance of the PP.

In accordance with the main task and function, The Directorate of High School Development will develop guidelines related to independent category schools and provide assistance in the implementation of pilot activities for formal independent category schools with the spearhead of implementing this program being the Provincial and Regency/City Education Offices. The pilot implementation of independent category schools is contained in this program which outlines the objectives, expected results, concepts and development models, and year program 2007. This program will continue to be refined continuously in line with developments in national education standards and real conditions in the field.
